"I really enjoyed the Resiliency workshop with Sumaya. It helped me understand the skills I already use to be resilient and to remember to use them more."

F5

"It was amazing! To stop and breathe deeply and actually see how that changes a person's perception of the moment - from being stressed to being relaxed! Such a simple thing and so easily forgotten to do just that one thing to relax and de-stress! Thank you for the reminder! The moderator's tone of voice was relaxing which by itself helped to introduce calmness."

Jetpubs

"Such a comforting voice. Excellent, concrete examples of how I've fallen and gotten up and list out who/what helped me in the past."

"I love how simple but impactful the class was. I also loved the journaling exercise, it was something I have never done and yet I have journaled before. I just loved that I now have a saying I can repeat to myself everyday to check in."

"Meeting with Liberate was such a lovely way to recenter myself and my day. Our instructor/guide set an excellent tone that allowed me to leave my work behind and focus on myself and objectives for the half hour we were together. Carrying this feeling and my learnings into the rest of the day and reminded of the value of stopping for a reflective moment."

Framework Homeownership

"The workshop was very impactful for myself and colleagues. It helped us recognize small and bigs wins that helped identify what we needed to accomplish our goals - as in how we felt and got to X win. Also, reminding us to simply celebrating ourselves and living in the present moment. It was great. We are currently brainstorming on how we can make this a habit based on our current habits."

Q&A with Sumaya

What do you do to manage stress?

I start my days off with meditating and gratitude journaling which truly help me become present and release stress from the past or future. Emotional Freedom Technique also known as tapping is another favorite tool of mine that helps me destress and feel instant calm and relaxation. Going on regular walks allows me to manage stress through movement of my body.

How do you prioritize your mental health at work?

Taking a mid-day break is one way that I prioritize my mental health at work. If I’m not able to take a break, then I spend some time doing tasks in a quiet space without distractions so that I can be present with myself. I also go on walks during my lunch breaks which helps support my mental wellbeing.

What is your favorite practice for mental fitness and why?

Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping) is my favorite practice for mental fitness because it instantly calms me down and relaxes my mind, body and soul. I have used tapping for various reasons such as releasing stress, releasing anxiety, and releasing self-doubt. Tapping is truly a powerful tool that creates a positive change within minutes.

What do you love about being a Liberate leader?

I love the ability to build on my mental fitness with every Liberate class. Each class allows me to be present, feel calm and ease. Liberate classes and workshops combine some of my favorite mindfulness practices which makes each class enjoyable to do. As a Liberate leaver, I love being able to introduce mindfulness practices to others while feeling the calm and increased presence along with them.
