Q&A with Sumaya

What do you do to manage stress?

I start my days off with meditating and gratitude journaling which truly help me become present and release stress from the past or future. Emotional Freedom Technique also known as tapping is another favorite tool of mine that helps me destress and feel instant calm and relaxation. Going on regular walks allows me to manage stress through movement of my body.

How do you prioritize your mental health at work?

Taking a mid-day break is one way that I prioritize my mental health at work. If I’m not able to take a break, then I spend some time doing tasks in a quiet space without distractions so that I can be present with myself. I also go on walks during my lunch breaks which helps support my mental wellbeing.

What is your favorite practice for mental fitness and why?

Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping) is my favorite practice for mental fitness because it instantly calms me down and relaxes my mind, body and soul. I have used tapping for various reasons such as releasing stress, releasing anxiety, and releasing self-doubt. Tapping is truly a powerful tool that creates a positive change within minutes.
